THE FUSS ABOUT FUNCTIONAL AREAS

Hello there!I am an MBA student who is in the second semester and it's time now for me choose my functional areas or in other words areas of specialisation. The time I decided I'm gonna do MBA I determined that I'm gonna take Finance and HR as my electives, as Anna University offers dual specialisation. But, fortunately or unfortunately our department is not offering that combination I wanted. HR is one area that really fascinates me, I did'nt want to forego HR for the sake of Finance hence I settled for HR with marketing, a really interesting combination. I initially thought that I've the 'gift of the gab'and am too street smart(I started believing this only after many of friends and relatives said this on experiencing the way I tactfully make them nod their heads to what I say at the end of a tiring conversation)to study Marketing to really do Marketing(hope my staff are not reading this(!)). Now that the 'Marketing'paper we are studying in the second semester is almost half done I realise that Marketing is an ocean which a person with good language and inter-personal skills can sail through smoothly. Morever Marketing is the only department in a concern that brings in revenue to a firm. More that 35 out of 58 students in our class have opted for the combination as I have. The fuss about functional areas is all over and all of us have made our final decision!
